From Blondel to Tornow, metamorphosis of the west front

In the 18th century Jacques-François Blondel built a magnificent classical style façade on the west front of the cathedrals, replacing the small door that the bishop used as he came from his neighbouring palace. During the Annexation in the 19th century, this monument to the glory of French King Louis XV was replaced.  Paul Tornow built a neo-Gothic entrance featuring the portrait of the German Kaiser Wilhelm II!
