The population of Montigny-lès-Metz increased considerably between 1880 and 1910. The necessity to construct a church for Catholic worship became urgent. German architect, Ludwig Becker, a specialist in religious architecture, designed a project combining Roman charm and Gothic splendour. The church was inaugurated in 1906, revealing its superb frescos and stained glass windows to worshippers.
