The Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs for the Greater Eastern region (DRAC Grand Est) has launched an international public artistic commission for the stained glass windows of the triforium, and Kimsooja, a Korean artist living in the United States, was selected by the jury. Kimsooja’s work, entitled To Breathe, suffuses and showcases the building with light and colour. This new stained-glass window enhances the cathedral, depicting it as a sanctuary through a spectrum of colours that shift and change in response to variations in daylight. The artist uses an innovative combination of traditional coloured glass superimposed with industrial dichroic glass (which reflect certain colours while allowing others to pass through).
The stained-glass windows were made by Parot, a French workshop specialised in the creation and restoration of stained-glass windows for listed buildings.
