Unveiling of the new graphic design signage in the Cathedral

Winner of a public commission issued by the French State to design the indoor signage for Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Metz, the graphic design firm Nouvelle Étiquette (Xavier and Émilie Pompelle, with Julie Luzoir and Francis Ramel), in association with the Montreal-based studio Generique Design, created a typeface inspired by medieval inscriptions especially for the building, in collaboration with Alejandro Lo Celso. This typeface will be projected directly onto the walls of the cathedral, or engraved on metal signage plaques. Several types of information media will be used simultaneously: heritage mediation, spiritual trails in the cathedral, and light projection. This will help to enhance and promote heritage awareness.
